Johnny Blue Skies (Sturgill Simpson) — Passage du Desir
Indie Exclusive Gold Vinyl LP
Sturgill Simpson adopted a new alias, Johnny Blue Skies, for his new album, Passage du Desir. The album was recorded at Nashville’s Clement House Recording Studio and London’s Abbey Road Studios. Simpson will be promoting the album on his Why Not? Tour, along with bandmates Kevin Black (bassist), Robbie Crowell (keyboardist), Laur Joamets (guitarist) and Miles Miller (drummer).
While promoting his fifth album, The Ballad Of Dood & Juanita, in 2021, Simpson told Rolling Stone magazine that he wanted to release only five albums of original material. Releasing this new album as Johnny Blue Skies allows him to keep that promise while still pleasing his fans. However, he first used the alias last year on a song with Diplo and Dove Cameron: “Use Me (Brutal Hearts).”
