The soundtrack to the religious rock musical gets the anniversary treatment with a 2-LP pressing on 180-gram vinyl, replica card, replica card gatefold sleeve and 12-page booklet. The album was half-speed remastered by Miles Showell at Abbey Road Studios.

In 1970, Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber released Jesus Christ Superstar as a concept album — before they were able to convince a producer to stage their ambitious idea. It topped the US Billboard chart in 1971 and, within a year, launched stage productions all over the world.
