Beyoncé’s eighth studio album features a cover of Dolly Parton’s “Jolene” and a cover of The Beatles “Blackbird.” act ii: Cowboy Carter, the follow up to 2023’s act i: Renaissance, includes the top 10 single, “Texas Hold ‘Em.” With that hit, Beyoncé made history as the first Black woman ever to top Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart. The song also reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, marking Beyoncé’s ninth chart-topper and first since “Break My Soul.”

Beyoncé conceived Cowboy Carter as a journey through a reinvention of Americana. Mostly labeled a country album, Cowboy Carter also blends together diverse musical genres, such as R&B, pop, hip-hop, blues, soul, rock and folk music. Conceptually, the album is presented as a radio broadcast by fictional station “KNTRY Radio Texas,” with country singers Dolly Parton, Linda Martell and Willie Nelson acting as disc jockeys.
